Back to the Future Part II




Back to the Future Part II was released into theaters on November 22nd, 1989. Filming locations include Arleta, Los Angeles, Monrovia, S. Pasadena and Whittier, Ca. and Las Vegas, Nv. It was directed by Robert Zemeckis, who also directed the first and third installments of the trilogy. The score was composed by Alan Silvestri, who also composed the scores for the first and third installments of the trilogy. The films first DVD release was on December 17th, 2002 as part of the trilogy box set.


McFly house (1985) - 9303 Roslyndale Ave. Arleta, Ca. 91331

The 1,246 square foot house was built in 1954. The house was used for the McFly house in all three installments of the trilogy.

Jennifer's house - 161 N. Magnolia Ave. Monrovia, Ca. 91016

The 2,659 square foot house was built in 1905. The house was also used as Jennifer's house in Back to the Future Part III.

Mr. Strickland's house - 12511 Bailey St. Whittier, Ca. 90601

The 732 square foot house was built in 1920. The porch has been remodeled since filming, moving the steps from the front to the side of the porch. In the first screenshot, the building seen at the end of the street is actually Whittier High School, the high school used in the first two installments of the trilogy.

The twenty-two story casino opened on July 2nd, 1971. It can also be seen in Casino, The Girl Next Door and The Stand, as Randall Flagg's headquarters.

Biff Tannen's house (1955) - 1809 Bushnell Ave. S. Pasadena, Ca. 91030

The 2,002 square foot house was built in 1910.

Hill Valley High School - 12417 Philadelphia St. Whittier, Ca. 90601

The school was built in 1905. The same school was used for Hill Valley High School in the first installment of the trilogy, four years prior. It's a gated school, so I wasn't able to visit the exact spot shown in the screenshot. However, you can still see the staircase shown in the film, from the sidewalk.

River Road Tunnel - Mt. Hollywood Dr. Los Angeles, Ca. 90027

The tunnel is roughly halfway between the Greek Theatre and the Griffith Observatory, just where Vermont Canyon Road and Mt. Hollywood Drive meet. The tunnel can also be seen in Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Throw Momma from the Train and WarGames.

    1. Universal studios Backlot. Most of the locations such as the clock tower, diner, movie theater is located specifically in Courthouse Square. The exact same locations were used to serve as Kingston Falls (town in the Spielberg classic Gremlins)

    1. That's located at 3793 Oakhurst St. El Monte, Ca. 91732. It's a gated community, however, and not easily accessible.

  3. Kind of a quick/insignificant location, but do you have any idea where the scene was shot after Marty runs away from his house in alt 1985? It's when he sees the burned cars and crime scene with chalk outlines. I'm guessing it was probably in the same neighborhood.

  4. Biffs was a scale model inposed on the universal clocktower its wasnt filmed in vegas. :)
