Kindergarten Cop was released into theaters on December 21st, 1990. Filming locations include Los Angeles, Ca. and Astoria, Cannon Beach and Seaside, Or. It was directed by Ivan Reitman. Other notable movies directed by Reitman include Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters II, Meatballs, Six Days Seven Nights and Twins. Arnold Schwarzenegger played the lead of John Kimble. This was the second movie Schwarzenegger and Reitman worked on together, the first being Twins, two years prior. The score was composed by Randy Edelman. The films first DVD release was on January 20th, 1998.

When John Kimble arrives at the female lead's house he is driving from a dead end street so the town can be in the background. The scene was made better because the viewer is not familiar with the area, an interesting perspective for the director. Another instance of this happening is the final shot in The Rock they are driving towards a dead end.
