Pumpkinhead

Pumpkinhead was released into theaters on January 13th, 1989. Filming locations include Stevenson Ranch and Topanga, Ca. It was directed by special effects and makeup legend, Stan Winston, in his directorial debut. Sadly, Winston passed away on June 15th, 2008. The origin of Pumpkinhead was a poem written by Ed Justin. The original title of the film was Vengeance The Demon, as shown in early trailers and promotional posters. Lance Henriksen played the lead of Ed Harley. Henriksen has an impressive resume, some of which include Aliens, Alien 3, Millennium, Near Dark, The Quick and the Dead, Tales from the Crypt episodes Cutting Cards & Yellow and The Terminator. Mushroom, the dog actor who played Gypsy, also played Barney in the movie Gremlins. The score was composed by Richard Stone. The films first DVD release was on August 1st, 2000.

Harley Grocery - Gate* 26835 Pico Canyon Rd. Stevenson Ranch, Ca. 91381

The exact location where the structure built for the film once stood, is now private property, beyond a gated entrance, owned by DKM Offshore Energy Inc. Getting to the spot requires a roughly 1.2 mile hike.

I'd like to thank PaulH of Halloween Filming Locations for finding this location.

The 2,024 square foot house was built in 1979. It was also used as the Jarvis house, in Friday the 13th Part IV: The Final Chapter.

    1. Ehh all that desert gives it away as not the deep south. It always had to be somewhere in the Western US. I would've guessed Utah or Arizona in the middle of nowhere.

  2. Omg! I always knew that cabin looked familiar, but my mind is blown that it was the Jarvis house from Friday the 13th Part 4!

  3. The cabin house used in the film was previously used in Charles Bronsons film, Murphys Law, 1986 as his character Detective Jack Murphy was on the run from the law after having been framed for a homicide he did not commit.

    1. I've physically searched for that location but wasn't able to match up anything definitive while I was there. So, the search for this one is still ongoing.
