Thelma & Louise

Thelma & Louise was released into theaters on May 24th, 1991. Filming locations include Fellows, Gorman, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Shafter, Tarzana and Toluca Lake, Ca., Bedrock, Co. and La Sal, Moab and Thompson Springs, Ut. It was directed by Ridley Scott. Other notable films directed by Scott include Alien, Alien: Covenant, Black Rain, Blade Runner, Gladiator, Hannibal and Prometheus. He also directed the famous 1984 Apple Mac commercial. Needless to say, he's one of the top directors of all-time. Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon portrayed the leads of Thelma Dickinson and Louise Sawyer. The score was composed by Hans Zimmer. The films first DVD release was on November 18th, 1997.

The structure was built in 1964. During the time of filming, it actually was named The Silver Bullet. At the time of my visit, it was named Cowboy Country, as it's been since 1999.

The structure has been there since at least 1971. At the time of my visit, it was the Lake Hughes Recovery center.

The structure was erected in 1882. As far as I know, this is the only location from the movie that's not in California or Utah.

Helicopter appears - S. Fork Road

This location is near Gooseneck Overlook and requires traveling roughly eight miles along an extremely rigorous dirt/rock road. I highly recommend the use of a four-wheel-drive vehicle.

Ending/Grand Canyon - S. Fork Road

This location is known as Thelma & Louise Point and requires traveling roughly nine miles along an extremely rigorous dirt/rock road. I highly recommend the use of a four-wheel-drive vehicle. Many sources state the location as being within Dead Horse Point State Park, while in actuality, it's located just south of the park. However, it is visible from Dead Horse Point. And although it's not the Grand Canyon, it still overlooks the Colorado River, the same river that runs through the Grand Canyon.
