The Black Phone

The Black Phone was released into theaters on June 24th, 2022. Filming locations include Delco and Wilmington, NC. It was directed by Scott Derrickson. Other notable films directed by Derrickson include The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Hellraiser: Inferno and Sinister. The movie is set in 1978. The role of "The Grabber" was played by Ethan Hawke. Some of my personal favorite Hawke movies include The Northman, Sinister and Training Day. The score was composed by Mark Korven. The films first DVD release was on August 16th, 2022.

The school closed in 2020 and was still abandoned at the time of my visit. The boys bathroom that Finn runs into, in actuality, is a classroom.

The 1,525 square foot house was built in 1957. The tree in front was just a prop to make the house appear more menacing.

House Finn is held captive in - 2414 Shirley Rd. Wilmington, NC. 28405

The 1,001 square foot house was built in 1960. The houses are on the same street as the ice cream truck scene from Maximum Overdrive.
