Ghost Town was released into theaters on November 11th, 1988. Filming locations include Benson, Az. It was directed by Richard McCarthy. This is McCarthy's only feature film directing credit. The movie was never released on DVD. Other than the 1988 New World VHS, it's only physical media release was the Scream Factory blu-ray on July 28th, 2015.

The western town set was constructed in 1969. The majority of the movie was filmed at this location. Other notable movies filmed here over the years include Maverick, The Outlaw Josey Wales, The Quick and the Dead (1995), Tombstone and Tales From the Crypt episode "Showdown".
