I love everything about the green nature/ under populated towns, basically the time when i first saw it in the 80s and where it sets 60s. This film, alongside with "I...Oh, the bridge!

This film, alongside with "It" (the real, proper adaptation with Tim Curry, of course), left a considerable imprint on my childhood memories when I watched both as a youngling in Poland... We were just a year or so after the fall of communism, and my little self was living in a place which happened to have multiple locations very similar to those in both films... from a dreamy, slow-rolling river location, which was just like "The Barrens" in "It", to, yes, the bridge!

We had a similar spooky, giant bridge outside the city, spanning the Vistula River, and it was (still is, actually) in a similar remote, lush and green, peaceful location in the middle of nature, complete with nearby pastures, birds, herds of horses, etc.

It's actually three times longer than the bridge in "Stand By Me", I think it may be even taller, and it was made in XX century only of steel and concrete - no wood - but as a child, I always thought of it as the "brother bridge" of the bridge in "Stand By Me", anyway. I've visited it often in childhood and later, and while I'll never cross or visit the original bridge from "Stand By Me" in USA, I've always wanted to cross this bridge here, like the boys did in the picture. Just step on it and slowly walk across, hold on to its steel sides, as the wind howls around, with the river glistening far, far below!

I still have not done that. :-DJnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5575732787738596693.post-59673620981053208892023-05-22T21:38:59.153-07:002023-05-22T21:38:59.153-07:00Has this been confirmed yet if this is the locatio...Has this been confirmed yet if this is the location for the opening scene?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5575732787738596693.post-5827887804616935392023-04-25T03:48:26.522-07:002023-04-25T03:48:26.522-07:00Where is the leech swamp scenes filmed and the nig...Where is the leech swamp scenes filmed and the night morning after camp scenes filmed Kathleen Corsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00151383358905688880noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5575732787738596693.post-68587193978597453422023-03-29T19:36:22.140-07:002023-03-29T19:36:22.140-07:00I was curious why the light pole and fire hydrant ...I was curious why the light pole and fire hydrant were moved. Funnily enough, I’m flying out to the states on Thursday to visit my friend who lives in Veneta, OR… so looks like my final location to see is the old junk yard. Funnily enough, I took my other friend who lives in Eugene with me when I revisited - she didn’t even realise that she lived so close to it all! Thank you again for sharing all of your findings - they have helped me to visit these locations that are so very special to me through my love of this movie! I must have watched that movie 6 times in 1986 and took my closest friends to see it. The movie reminded me of my gang of childhood friends, out tree fort, the discoveries, and adventures we did together. 2004, I searched and visited these filming locations. Here’s a true story from the summer of 1985; I was flying Pacific Southwest Airlines (PSA) each and every weekend, back and forth, from my home in San Francisco to a project house in Long Beach. I’d catch the last flight every Friday from a plane arriving with passengers from Medford and Eugene, OR. One Friday while in the air I happened to notice a small skinny kid walking barefoot down the isle. How strange I thought, a child walking barefoot down the isle of the plane. After the movie came out and I saw it in it’s first week, I was slightly puzzled, as something about the movie was nagging the back of my mind, besides bringing forth all sorts of childhood memories. I later realized that barefoot child on the plane was child actor Will Wheaton returning from Southern Oregon. Not Happyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02077092567568208147noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5575732787738596693.post-79462964861668978962021-04-29T13:37:22.501-07:002021-04-29T13:37:22.501-07:00It's so crazy that people all over the world h...It's so crazy that people all over the world have seen this movie.
