He took great pride in the film being made there and actually had kept the property much as it was during filming, had alot of props that were gifted to him or left behind. He said he'd never sell the property and he kept his word. However, sometime around 2010 he passed away, still living at Laurel Ledge(Packanack Lodge in F13 pt.2). The land is lakefront property and rather valuable unfortunately so after his passing it was sold and the lodge was tore down. I was there in 2007-2008 and it looked much like it did in the movie. Packanack still stood, I walked through and took many pictures plus the small buidling that was Pauls office was still standing. The main building was in good shape, certainly could have been kept up for many years. Now its a summer home for a wealthy family. I believe its been even sold again since as thats how I saw the property after Packanack was razed, it was for sale and is a luxury/vacation home for the wealthy. The realtor on site had no clue about the movie being filmed there and I was there maybe 10 mins. Its still obvious where the old Lodge stood and what was the main drive is still clearly visible. The new home occupies the exact same spot and many of the trees and the landscape is surprisingly still visible. Its clearly site of Packanack and while the buildings are gone, and that made me very sad, It still gave me chills to be there although not quite the same as when I'd been there while the property was still like the movie. I'll see if I can post some of my better pictures. The man that owned the property all those years caught me snooping around, disappointed because I found what I thought may be the entrance to Packanack and asked what I was up to. I told him and he offered to show myself and my young son the property. He was a very nice gentleman and he loved the place more than money for sure. The new home when I was there just a couple years ago was on the market for around 1 million or so. Beautiful home, fancy no doubt and the scenery is stunning but I much prefer the old structures.
